Horrible establishment. The hotel itself is a 5 star boutique hotel cramped into a good location on Lyon’s main square. Given that it was 5 stars, we expected excellent service and rooms which was not the case. The receptionist DIDNT speak English. Luckily we were able to communicate with my broken high school French. She was very slow and the whole process took 30 minutes. She also “accidentally” made us prepay. When we asked to see the room, she told us we had to pay for the room first. When the manager overheard and confronted her she said it was an “accident”. The room was not ready for check in until 4pm even though we were told check in is at 3pm. We were without a room for 4 hours. After long travel coming from Zurich this was a very bad welcome, especially given that the hotel was empty. The hotel itself is small, dark run down and and cramped with no lobby. Despite extra late check in at 4pm, the room was still not cleaned properly and some trash from previous guests was leftover. This is unheard of not even in motels. The rollaway bed for a third child was a $100 surcharge, and had a very thin mattress. She was not able to sleep that night. The air conditioning does not go under 18*C and BARELY BLOWS. This was extremely unpleasant given the heat wave in France this week. They offered us to change rooms, we had been too tired. If you wish to have a comfortable and pleasant sleep, avoid this establishment.

I have to said very nice hotel very polite and well manners I did enjoy the stay very clean and very tidy and lovely stylish. Stuff very helpful and kind Breakfast wow very good lovely and very Hotel is a very good location so is like you are in the middle of every where in Lyon station are clore so you have good connection of the transport any who is more like you are a walking distance of shops, restaurants and Historic Do I recommend yes is a good hotel very helpful and polite staff but just be aware of some misunderstanding of the check out as we we got charged twice Do I return if we are in Lyon I may see if their any rooms available

O hotel fica no centro cultural de Lyon, de onde se pode conhecer a cidade a pé. É um prédio antigo, mas muito bem decorado, com requinte e atenção aos detalhes. O estacionamento é externo, mas fica bem próximo. Há um excelente café da manhã e um restaurante bastante convidativo. A equipe de recepção é atenciosa e muito prestativa.

Not for me. Unacceptable level of service. Booked through booking.com. Called and emailed several times to organize pickup and nothing yet money is taken out of your account immediately. Would not recommend it even though it’s a 5 star hotel, found it horrible and not welcoming

We are antique dealers and frequently in France on business. Additionally I have written about travel in several national magazines. Over several decades we have stayed in many cities throughout France and have had many hotel experiences. For many years we had an apartment in Lyon and while knowing the city well, had never stayed in a hotel there. It was our good fortune to select the Hotel Royal on the Place Bellecour. Situated in a charming Belle Epoque building with great views, the hotel is one of those jewels that is nearly perfect. It is the staff, however, that provides an exceptional stay---sympathetic, efficient, intelligent in every aspect of the hotel experience. It is hard to think of one suggestion for improvement. We consider ourselves sometimes as over critical guests, but here our one criticism is that our stay was not for much, much longer.

Estancia de dos noches. Soy Accor Gold, con lo que recibí un upgrade de habitación y pude marchar a las 14 horas sin problema.El hotel tiene una ubicación casi perfecta para visitar Lyon. La habitación que me dieron era amplia pero estaba flirteando en esa fina línea que hay entre lo antiguo y lo viejo. La puerta del balcón que cierra mal, un armario de aluminio digno de los años 70, grifería vieja y desgastada...pequeños detalles que degradan el conjunto.Por otro lado, la habitación era amplia y correctamente confortable, incluyendo albornoz y zapatillas. Ninguna queja de la limpieza. Ah,por la tarde preparan la habitación para pasar la noche, que hacía mucho tiempo que no me lo encontraba en un hotel y más con todo lo del COVID.El desayuno merece punto y aparte porqué hace digno honor a esa ciudad gastronómica que es Lyon con un delicado cocinero que prepara los platos calientes a base de huevo. Los maravillosos cruasanes, los cannelés de Burdeos, los pasteles o los yogures artesanos. Mejorable eso sí un poco la selección de charcutería y variedad de queso. Pero en resumen, un 9 sobre 10.Por desgracia no me tomé una copa en bar pero es un lugar altamente recomendable.Quiero hacer mención especial a la amabilidad del personal de recepción, y muy especialmente del portero de la mañana que es increiblemente atento y servicial. Una joya.

Estabelecimento muito agradável com serviço impecável. Recomendamos especialmente o bar Côté Bellecour, um recanto discreto no primeiro andar. Com seus dez lugares e móveis confortáveis, é um segredo muito bem guardado. Porque no balcão, o erudito e apaixonado mixologista prepara coquetéis diferentes de tudo o que se conhece. Domínio perfeito das dosagens, adaptação ao gosto do cliente, tudo se une para uma experiência inesquecível.

Ficamos 2 noites nas férias de Natal. Lendo alguns comentários, parece que há dois campos de comentários, aqueles que acharam o hotel lindamente decorado e aqueles que o acharam gasto e desatualizado e posso dizer que ambos são verdadeiros. Este não é um hotel moderno com tudo feito em plástico e fácil de substituir. O mobiliário é feito de componentes de qualidade e, como resultado, pode haver algumas rachaduras e lascas na pintura .. ou a cadeira pode ser irregular ... mas a cadeira era forrada de veludo e o lavatório do banheiro é feito de pedra.O que todos concordam é que o serviço é impecável e a localização fantástica. Serviço: todos foram corteses, o barman entrega as bebidas no seu quarto minutos após o seu pedido, a recepção nos ajudou a imprimir todos os formulários que precisávamos para a viagem. Situação: a saída mais próxima do metro fica a menos de um quarteirão, você está no centro da agitação de Lyon, mas o hotel é tranquilo, o Le institute fica ao lado.Dicas: o hotel tem forma de L com alguns quartos na Place Bellacour, outros voltados para uma praça diferente. Os quartos do pátio estão voltados para uma parede de pedra e eu teria ficado desapontado com um deles.

We stayed 2 nights over Christmas Holiday. Reading through some over reviews, it seems like there are two camps of reviews, those who thought the hotel was beautifully decorated and those who thought it was shabby and outdated and I can tell you both are true. This isn't a modern hotel with everything done in plastic that's easy to replace. The furnishings are made of quality components and as a result there maybe some cracks and chips in the paint.. or the chair may be lumpy... but the chair was upholstered in velvet and the bathroom vanity is made of stone.What everyone can agree on is that their service is impeccable and the location is fantastic. Service: everyone was courteous, the bar man delivers drinks to your room within minutes of your order, the front desk helped us print our all the forms we needed for travel. Location: the nearest exit of the metro is less than a block away, you are at the heart of the action in Lyon but the hotel is quiet, Le institute is next door.Tips: hotel is L shaped with some rooms on Place Bellacour, others facing a different square. Courtyard rooms face a stone wall and I would have been disappointed in one of them.

Great location and beautiful hotel. we enjoyed our room looking on the street which is lively and full of action. The courtyard view looks onto the back of a building with no views. I wouldn't suggest it. My only complaint is with the concierge service. You're better off on your own. You get a lot of attitude with little to no to assistance.
