“My goodness it’s hard to go into detail for the sanctuary lodge. You’re already faced with something magical, ie Machu Picchu at sunrise or sunset, and then we’re going to review a hotel as well? Your mileage may vary of course but for us, this place is hard to beat. We’ve stayed in 5 star hotel/resorts around the world, and the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge does not disappoint. Did we encounter a couple of service issues? Yes. But my goodness they addressed them so well. To be able to stay atop Machu Picchu and thereby easily visit the site twice, and especially see the magnificence of the site at sunrise and sunset. Yes, you’re going to have to throw money at the problem, but yes it’s worth it, so worth it. Could you find better service/quality etc? Sure, but you’re 8,500 ft up a mountain in Peru … so the real answer to that question is no! Miguel in the restaurant and Bruno behind the front desk are true gems and beautifully illustrate why we’re willing to pay over the odds for service and the quality we expect such as the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge.”
